March of the machines at the 2nd World Humanoid Robot Games

Over 2,000 humanoid robots are taking over Beijing’s National Speed Skating Oval for the 2nd World Humanoid Robot Games, running August 22–26.

With 666 teams from 16 countries, this year’s event is a massive leap forward for the industry. The mechanical athletes aren’t just walking; they are competing in 51 events, ranging from fully autonomous 100-meter sprints and soccer to complex real-world tests like disaster response and factory assembly. The 2026 games have heavily tightened their rules to penalize remote control, shifting the benchmark from simply finishing a task to doing it autonomously, accurately, and at speed.
