Artificial intelligence company and creator of Claude, Anthropic suggested a global pause on building the most powerful AI systems as the latest models are beginning to show signs they could escape human control.
Anthropic pointed towards a trend in which an AI system is capable of fully autonomously designing and developing its own successor, a phenomenon called recursive self-improvement.
The advice comes just days after Anthropic had filed paperwork with the US authorities in order to make an initial public offering (IPO) later this year.
